Eczema & Rash
CLn® for Eczema and Rash
Eczema & Rash – Eczema is often used synonymously with inflammation of the skin and usually refers to a condition known by dermatologists as atopic dermatitis. A more generalized term for eczema is dermatitis. The exact cause is not known although there are abnormalities in the skin’s “barrier” function. Many factors can contribute to the development of eczema including genetics, allergies, dry skin, hot, dry, or cold environments and stress. The symptoms include vesicles, crusts, dryness, cracking, and redness. While most consider eczema to be atopic dermatitis, there are other skin diseases that are sometimes called eczema including contact dermatitis and seborrheic dermatitis. Treatment includes symptom relief with use of moisturizers, oral antihistamine medications and corticosteroid creams. As part of a treatment plan, physicians have known that bleach baths can effectively improve eczema signs and symptoms. Additionally, bleach baths can reduce inflammation and microbes on the skin.
